"When I put the slides for the talk together on Monday we had 500 downloads – by the time I gave the talk yesterday afternoon we'd had 900! The extra publicity given to it by featuring on the University home page for the last few days had obviously had an effect. The split between iPhone and iPod touch users is about 70% iPhone, 30% iPod touch. Surprising number of iPod touches – and that sort of device never features in our surveys of what students have and yet they're obviously using them to access our services via wireless."

Our home page aims to represent the full range of activities undertaken by the University involving our students, staff, alumni, partners and the local and global communities.
To achieve this, we welcome suggestions for home page features from anyone connected to the University.
Not all events or stories will be suitable for the home page – some might be better suited to either of our regular staff publications or promotion with the help of our media team.

Looks like a peak of around 100,000 visits a day – considerably more than Edge Hill!

"Around 2,500 Scouts and leaders are braving the sub-zero temperatures at a winter camp at the the Scout movement's national campsite in Essex."

All we had to do was generate some attention. We had three things going for us:
1. We had enough resources in one place. Our media team members and youth participants were gathered together, allowing us to fully exploit the circumstances.
2. We had a fantastically well organised and very visual event. ‘Schools close but thousands of Scouts camp out in snow’ seemed to surprise most journalists.
3. Our media contacts were likely to be receptive to the story after a fair few days of snow and not a lot else going on. -
"Some 2,500 hammered tent pegs into the frozen ground at Gilwell Park near Chingford and slept under canvas."
