… unfortunately it’s not for their club!

You may know that I gave up drinking Coke back in 2002, including all other cola flavoured drinks such as Pepsi, Virgin Cola, even Rolla Cola! Since then, when choosing a soft drink I’ve usually gone for Sprite or 7up. Imagine my surprise then on the flight over to be told they were out of both and would I mind terribly if I had a “Sierra Mist”. Being the adventurous sort I thought I’d give it a try.
Well it was just like Sprite or 7up. It’s produced by PepsiCo which explains why it’s not available in the UK, where it has the rights to distribute 7up. Apologies if you expected a more exciting post but at least you get a photo.
Pleasant “urban wheat ale” brewed in Chicago, served with a lemon to kill off the swine flu. Bottled on 30th June 2009. And this was the first time I’ve been asked for ID since I was 18.
On the flight from Manchester to Chicago they provided a bottle of Crystal Geyser spring water with the meal. Being a 7+ hour flight I had a bit too much time to examine the label.
First thing that struck me was there appears to be some form of deposit. 5 cents in HI and ME and “CA cash refund”. Nice to see some states taking the environment seriously, if that is indeed what it’s saying.
The other thing I noticed was the splattering of trademarks. “Crystal Geyser (R)” I can understand but “Bottled at the source (R)” is surely a factual statement, if it’s true! “Alpine Spring Water (TM)” is equally baffling when the source is in Tennessee!
